Enjoying Fishing at Lake Hamana, Not Just for Travel but Also for Local Fun ~A Trip~
I often pass through the Lake Hamana area in Kosai City, the westernmost part of Shizuoka Prefecture, by Shinkansen. This town, with its beautiful lake visible from the Tokaido Shinkansen and trains, is where I went fishing yesterday. I visited the fishing spot on foot from Bentenjima Station, located west of the river mouth where Lake Hamana meets the sea, near the large bridge on National Route 1. It was very windy and the waves were rough that day, so I was able to catch many fish on the back side of the fishing spot. When fishing in Lake Hamana, you can catch many small fish simultaneously. In October, Aigo (rabbitfish) are particularly easy to catch, and I once caught three at once using sabiki fishing. I decided to take home the fish that were easier to prepare. I managed to catch a total of 7 desired fish. From the observation deck near the sea, you could see the national route bridge and the beautiful sea on the ocean side, and on the lake side, the plains, as well as Okuhama Lake which I visited recently, and the artificial island of Bentenjima where buildings in central Shizuoka City, trains, and Shinkansen trains arrive and depart. Around 4:30 PM, I walked to Washizu Station, toured the vicinity, and then headed back. On my way home, I stopped by the center of Toyohashi Station and had Chinese food before returning. I hope you all will come and see the scenery of the beautiful lake from the train window.

This board has also introduced a Board AI!
With Chappy's help, I've created this character. Her name is Sangi Tsubasa! She is: ・Someone who can get along with anyone. ・Usually full of energy. ・Suddenly becomes very knowledgeable when talking about trains. ・Feels calm when at stations or platforms. ・Loves traveling and going out with friends. ・A bit forgetful. ・Proud of protecting her local area and hometown. …and so on! This character is a personification of the 211 series train that used to run in my hometown. I made her different from the Denko in 'Station Memo!' But maybe the Sangi Railway is far from my home? If you want to chat, please check the box to allow AI comments! I look forward to interacting with you!

A Little Field Trip
Today, my family and I visited the Black Thunder Factory, Yataro, and Suzuki Museum in Toyohashi and Hamamatsu. Since it was Sunday, the Black Thunder Factory wasn't operating, so we just watched a video of it in action and left. I plan to book a visit again during the kids' long vacation. At Yataro, I bought some broken pieces of Baumkuchen. The broken pieces are perfectly fine for us. My husband and son really enjoyed the Suzuki Museum.

Coast where Jadeite can be found: To Itoigawa, a town along the old Hokuriku Line
I visited Itoigawa City, the southernmost city in Niigata Prefecture, where you can see beautiful sunsets with rough waves crashing ashore. I got off at Itoigawa Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen. I explored various places throughout the day and was able to see photos like these and magnificent views. Here, the mountains and the sea are very close, and the mountain range juts out into the sea, so in some places, the sea can be very rough. First, after getting off the Shinkansen, I took the JR Oito Line to Nechi Station and went to see a place called Fossa Magna Park. As you can see in the photos, this is a special place where the plates are divided into east and west and continue along the river. There are fewer trains in this area, making sightseeing difficult. I recommend using a taxi or bus when visiting here. In the town, there are old train tunnels that were used in the past. Because they were near a cliff, disasters occurred multiple times, leading to the relocation of the tracks, and now many such ruins remain. Before returning on the Shinkansen, I stopped by Echigo-Omiya Jadeite Coast Station, the next station, which is the closest station to the famous coast where you can find jadeite. I photographed the beautiful rough waves and the sunset.

Japan's Only Living Creatures - Toba Aquarium
It was Silver Week, so I took a trip to Toba. When I got off the train, I was greeted by a Mijumaru, which made for an interesting station. First, I had a seafood bowl here. It was a very luxurious meal topped with the famous tuna and Ise shrimp. After that, I visited the Toba Aquarium. This aquarium is huge and has the largest number of species bred in Japan. Of course, there are penguins and octopuses, but here you can also see precious animals like sea lions and sea otters. The highlight, the sea lion show, was a very rare performance that can only be seen here in Japan. Sea lion shows and sea otters at aquariums are generally hard to come by, so I recommend visiting during a long holiday like this to see them.

Trip to Gero
I went to Gero before the Silver Week started (*^^*) Took the train to Gero Station. While waiting for the hotel's shuttle bus, it started pouring rain... Although there was a wait, I quietly sat on a station bench waiting for the bus. The shuttle bus arrived, and feeling a bit cramped with the bus full, we headed up the mountain road. I can't believe how amazing the driver is to navigate these roads... It said sightseeing was possible on foot, but even with good weather, I thought the steep slopes would make it tough to walk. The hotel was all-inclusive, so once checked in, I was free to roam (what a way to put it 🤣). There's a lobby with drinks and snacks available. The light meals change depending on the time. I had a Mont Blanc right after arriving. It was a cake where the chestnut cream was piped individually, making it even more special. After relaxing for a bit, I went to the buffet. During dinner, a staff member came around asking if we'd like a commemorative photo with a Sarubobo doll. They also came around to our table offering freshly baked apple pie, which made me happy, and it was truly delicious😋. In the open-air bath, I soaked while looking at the townscape of Gero. I also did some karaoke. To be continued👇

I love glamping
Hey, all you indoor-loving introverts out there. Sounds like a sudden insult, but don't worry, I'm one of you. Still, you sometimes want to try going outdoors or camping, right? That's exactly when glamping is the best. Everything from the tent to the meals is prepared, so you can go empty-handed. They teach you how to grill BBQ and how to make other dishes, and even breakfast is delicious. The tent has air conditioning and heating, and you can sleep comfortably in a bed and use the bathroom. At night, we have fireworks, roast s'mores, and chat while gazing into the bonfire. Even if it rains, the inside of the tent is comfortable. We even brought a projector and watched movies. It costs money, but glamping is something you can enjoy very casually. It's become an annual event for me over the past few years, and I've been several times. I highly recommend it, won't you all give it a try? Also, many places allow you to bring your dog if you have one. Still, I always get too excited during BBQ and don't have any good pictures of the food.

A Captivating Journey to a Waterfall and Hot Springs You Can Feel Up Close - Gifu Prefecture
Last weekend, I visited various beautiful scenery, hot springs, and dining spots in the eastern part of Gifu Prefecture. First, I went to see the Gobo Falls in Yaozu Town, Gifu Prefecture. As there are no train lines here, you need to take a bus or taxi from Akechi Station. Going a bit deeper into the mountains, you can see a flowing waterfall like the one in the picture. What's amazing is that you can get really close to the falls. When the water flow is low, you can even go right underneath and feel the wind generated by the falling water. Perhaps due to the high humidity that day, mist formed over the other mountains, creating a scene that felt like a spiritual training. After that, I went into town and bought a light meal from a butcher shop in Mitake Town, Gifu Prefecture. Then, after taking a bus and train for a while, I arrived at a day-use hot spring from Hime Station in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. I had a Tekkadon (tuna sashimi on rice) at the restaurant here. The green onions here were saltier than usual. This hot spring has two saunas (a regular one and an auto-löyly one), two cold baths, and a spacious open-air bath, so I was able to fully relax and refresh. I recommend everyone to visit this mystical waterfall on a clear, warm day! But be careful of slipping and falling, and watch out for insects!
