I think the lightning build is strong
If the character is a knight, equipped with the Impulse Blade, and all skills have lightning synergy, along with an artifact that grants +1 lightning synergy, you can pretty much brute-force your way through. However, I think playing in a way that suits your own style is better. There are countless ways to play, like with bleed or frost, for example.
