Java Edition 3+ villagers/mobs if you use them, 5+ if you don't. Slept within the last 20 minutes? Spawn range: 6 blocks up/down and 8 blocks horizontally from the villager. Bedrock Edition 10+ villagers 20+ beds 75%+ job site rate Spawn range: 5 blocks up, 7 blocks down, and 8 blocks horizontally from the bed. Apparently, Bedrock spawns if there are no villages within 100 blocks. Not sure about Java. Sources: Google, YouTube

Speaking from the perspective of the Bedrock Edition, this won't work in areas where normal villages exist. You'll need to either transport villagers to a separate location away from a village to build it, or if you're modifying an existing village, you'll need to gather all villagers within the trap facility. If you make it an Iron Golem trap with a trading hall, you can handle trading simultaneously. You can find plenty of tutorial videos from other players for this type of trap, but I'll link one below that combines stylish building with base functions as a reference: https://youtu.be/Ek6VvdZr2U8?si=95MDOE-0qXfpn9gn If you're only concerned with efficiency, Bedrock Edition requires over 20 beds. When confining villagers in a minimal space to create a trading hall, you need to place beds and job site blocks, then remove and re-place them to ensure they are correctly linked (indicated by a sparkling effect upon placement) and accessible. Stock won't refresh if blocks aren't properly linked. Unemployed villagers will never get jobs (meaning they can't trade) and will hinder Iron Golem spawning if they make up more than 25% of the total villagers, so it's best to deal with them as soon as you find them.
