What does 'Play the Board' mean?

Earlier, I was trying to check my gem history and saw a message saying, 'Want lots of gems? Play the board! 100,000 gems distributed!' When I clicked to go to the event details, it said the page couldn't be found. What was that about…… I don't have a screenshot, but has there been an event like that in the past?
