A Story About a Dog and a Cat

Continuing from the previous 'Old Public Housing' story, a heartwarming tale. I found a cat, and two years later, my mother got a dog. They were good friends, so after the cat passed away, the dog became listless and developed dementia. The cat came to pick him up, but my mother apparently sent it back, saying 'It's too soon.' We lived while taking care of the dog, but there was talk of rebuilding, so we moved to a new house a year later. My mother said there was nothing there, and it was a house the family liked. One morning a while later, I felt something like paws running up the stairs and leaning against my feet as I slept. The cat's claws on its hind legs always made a clicking sound. When I told my mother, she said she got angry at the dog for coming to pick up the cat, saying 'It's too soon,' and it seemed to have sulked. In the winter, the dog couldn't get up anymore, and the following year, it fell asleep in my mother's arms. Apparently, the cat came to pick it up again. After that, all signs of it disappeared, and my mother seemed lonely. That spring, I was dozing alone in the living room when I felt something pulling my feet upwards. I couldn't move. At that moment, I heard clicking footsteps running over, and the sensation on my feet was released. I felt the cat leaning against my feet, and then the smell of the dog leaning against my head. It seems they came to help. After that, I haven't heard anything, as if they've moved on. I vowed not to sleep with my head facing the northeast, near the window that leads outside.
