The Room Where You Get Sleep Paralysis

This is a story my mother told me. My great-grandmother's house is quite old. When I was little, every year around the Obon festival, relatives would gather and stay over. We'd lay out 4 to 3 futons in one room (two rooms), and my great-grandparents would sleep in the living room. It was like 3-4 families gathering. One day, I noticed there was a room under the stairs and asked my mother, "If there's a room, can't I sleep there?" She told me, "That's a place you're not supposed to sleep." Inside, it was decorated like my uncle's hobby room, with lots of records, but it seemed like you could lay out futons there. When I got to be about high school age and asked again, She said, "If you sleep in that room, you'll definitely experience sleep paralysis and feel a chill." Apparently, for reasons like that, all the relatives avoid sleeping in that room. My mother didn't believe it either, but after sleeping in that room and experiencing sleep paralysis, she's been hesitant to enter it ever since.
