Remembering When I Played an Old Game
It's a retro game, but there was a game called "Tactics Ogre," and it's been released with slight version differences on various consumer consoles and handhelds. (The recent retro game boom is a lifesaver!) Originally, there was a predecessor called "Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen" on the Super Famicom, and this Tactics Ogre was made by changing the system and story (or rather, telling a different tale in the saga). Basically, I never look at guides when playing a game for the first time, on my first playthrough. But this game has major endings for Law, Neutral, and Chaos paths, and the first time I played, I got the Law route ending. Without spoiling too much, for those who know, I remember just staring at the screen with the controller in my hands for a while after the ending (not quite an epilogue, but the story after the playable part) and being frozen. The music used was also wonderful, and the chapter titles, like "Will You Stain Your Hands?" showed a really great, unique sense. (Same for the game's subtitle.)

I've been playing since the SFC era, and I still pick it up again whenever I feel like it^^;

I recently bought the Switch remake version. I personally like that battle format, which has become rare these days. The text and story are also wonderful~.

Whoa~ That brings back memories! ð I also played since the SFC era. I bought the PS version and played through it in Law â Chaos â Neutral order. After that, I repeatedly leveled up in the hidden dungeon at the top-left of the map until I maxed out the stats of non-main characters ð

My absolute favorite game! ð The characters are charming and the BGM is great! Some routes have sad endings... And some cruel twists... I never get tired of playing it, no matter how many times. What hooked me the most was... That forbidden magic to turn people into the ultimate sword. Talk about getting your hands dirty! ðŠ Seriously, it's the best game ever ððð

I played it on the Sega Saturn. Finding treasure chests on the map was tough...

This is a game I feel like coming back to play again periodically. The clever story development, the wide variety of units you can choose and train for stageæ»ç¥ (strategy/clearing), and the replayability with multiple endings are truly impressive. I personally remember being shocked by the choice at the end of the first chapter (especially that you can actively participate in it). It's truly a masterpiece that will go down in gaming history.

You know them well~ I also got hooked on Quest games, and both were games that absolutely required strategy guides. I was especially obsessed with Tactics Ogre. I can't forget how many item location mistakes there were in the Famitsu strategy guides.

Ogre Battle: The Legend of the Zenobia is still fun to play today. The Sega Saturn version is the easiest to play in terms of content, but the hardware itself is difficult to handle. The music is superb. I still listen to 'Thunder Oedo A-Team March' often.

You really played it a lot! I played the SFC, PS, and PSP versions too! There was no other game that made me agonize over choices like that. It's one of the best 3 games of my life ð

AuthorThank you everyone for all the comments and likes, mom (The view count is also amazing, ^^;;;) It's a game I really love, so I ended up writing right up to the 500-character limit without realizing it, but more than anything, it's a wonderful game, so I hoped to bring you all some joy with these memories, and I thought it would be great if even one more person became interested and played it, mom

In Ogre Battle, when you recruit soldiers in town, they get individual names, and some characters are named after musicians.
