Emergency Backpack and Stockpile
I tend to buy things that have a really long shelf life, but even if they're supposedly tasty, food that lasts for years isn't that great... You either throw it out when it expires, or you don't even realize it has expired. So, I check and replace items every six months. Since the contents only need to last for six months, I just fill it with regular tea, water, canned goods, retort pouches, balanced nutrition bars, and snacks that are readily available. This way, even if they get replaced at the next check, I can still enjoy them while they're still good! Checking every six months also means I can stock up on body wipes for summer and hand warmers for winter, making it practical and lightweight. It's a good way to stay conscious about preparedness!

It's truly a smart approach to manage emergency food not as something special, but as an extension of daily life. I'm impressed by the effort to review the contents each season, balancing practicality and weight reduction. I'll definitely learn from your realistic attitude towards preparedness.

For snacks, I mainly go for things like yokan (sweet bean jelly) or biscuit tins, and I enjoy finishing off the older ones. I have a lot of Alpha Rice left, but it's not decreasing much ð I'm having trouble with it.

AuthorThat's right~ Alpha rice is good for storage but honestly not tasty... and it tends to be expensive. If you're looking at how to get it cheap and tasty, I really recommend swapping it out every six months.
