Diabetes
I strayed far from the path most people walk and had my first health check-up at 23. Turns out, I have diabetes. My numbers were apparently quite bad, and they told me to lose some weight, watch my diet, and take medication. Being diagnosed with diabetes at 23 was a shock, and since that day, I've been eating less rice and opting for healthier meals. However, not being able to eat until I'm full has become a source of stress, worsening my pre-existing depression. Memories of not being able to eat enough when I was little keep flooding back, and it's incredibly painful. I'll keep pushing forward today, dreaming of a day when I can eat delicious food to my heart's content 😭 (The cause of my diabetes is eating too much white rice. Apparently, eating 1 'go' per meal was the issue, and I've now reduced it to 0.5 'go'.)

At just twenty-three years old, receiving such a heavy diagnosis must be incredibly anxiety-inducing and painful.... It's truly heartbreaking that the restriction of not being able to eat to your fill brings back lonely memories from the past. Please don't blame yourself, and give yourself plenty of praise for enduring until today.

My parents were also borderline diabetic, and after they started adding barley to their rice, their blood sugar levels stabilized. How about trying to add barley to your rice? You might also feel fuller because you'll chew more.

Is 1 go (about 150g) of rice a lot for one person...? If that's considered a lot, then I must be even more of a disaster eating 2 go... I really understand the stress of not being able to eat enough rice. When you eat, have you considered basic things like increasing your chewing count, drinking water along with your meal, or incorporating low-calorie, low-fat foods like konjac or tofu? I hope this is helpful as a reference.

To resist eating until you're full, you could eat other filling foods. Or perhaps, I drink something carbonated before my meal. Take care of yourself.
