Releasing Daily Little Stresses

I have a son in elementary school with autism/ADHD. He's struggling with his studies and is currently not attending school. For two years, I accompanied him, trying to get him to attend school, encouraging him when he cried about not being able to go, and staying with him only for the times he could manage. Today he went, he did great. But then he got a fever from stress, and the days he couldn't attend continued... Last year, he attended school for 30 days in total. My son tried his best. He's afraid of the toilet and still wears diapers at 10 years old... He loves animals and insects. If he sees friends fighting, he cries and stops them, saying they have to be friends... a gentle son... He's a picky eater, dislikes meat. He won't eat plain white rice without specific furikake, and he doesn't drink tea or water, but he loves soy milk and milk. I love my son dearly. But I worry daily that he won't be able to survive like this. People around me say I'm spoiling him and that I'm a bad parent... So I stopped confiding in friends about my worries and stopped complaining... My husband also blames me, and my mother is elderly and doesn't understand my son's current situation. Ah, what did I do wrong? I just love my son. I don't want people to say he's pitiful or feel sorry for him because he's like this... It's just a small complaint, like wanting to say 'Work is tiring~ Parenting is tiring~'.

There are nights when you just want to vent without seeking anyone's understanding, right? Your commitment to continuing to love your son amidst that pressure is something no one can deny.

That's amazing... "I was able to go today!" Little by little, one step at a time. If you think you can't, take one step back. If you think you can, take one step forward, slowly is fine. I wonder if I'll have similar experiences when I have kids... It's helpful when people who've been through it share their stories.

It's definitely not good to hoard everything, so I think it's important to let things out appropriately! Just getting through today is enough. 😊

I myself have autism, and in my case, my relationship with my family is often not good. I think just having a mother who loves him like this makes the home a safe place for your son 🥹 Your mom is doing great every day and is amazing…! Seeing this post made me want to re-examine my own relationship with my parents 🥹

I don't think you're wrong at all. You're doing your best, and your son is doing his best too. You are loved, and although it's tough when few people understand, things will surely get better day by day.

Thank you. I can keep going because I have my son. In a way, I guess I'm a doting parent who depends on my child... It's my super cute son's fault lol

My family also has a second-grade daughter attending a special needs school. It's really tough, isn't it? Every family has different struggles, but it's definitely hard for all of us.
