Falling in Love with Dialect Conversion
This is a tool that can convert standard Japanese into 50 different dialects from across the country. I'll introduce it, though the accuracy probably isn't that high. The input text is the opening part of Osamu Dazai's "Kukomi Uta'e" (A Plea). 【Standard Japanese】 "I must speak. I must speak. Master. That person is terrible. Terrible. Yes. A detestable fellow. A bad person. Ah. I cannot stand it. I cannot let them live." 【Oita Dialect】 "I'll say it. I'll say it. Master. That person is terrible. Terrible. Yes. A detestable fellow. A bad one. Ah. I can't stand it. Can't let 'em live." 【Osaka Dialect】 "I'll say it. I'll say it. Master. That person is terrible. Terrible. Yes. A detestable fellow. A bad person. Ah. I can't stand it. Can't let 'em live." 【Kitakyushu Dialect】 "I'll say it. I'll say it. Master. That person is terrible. Terrible. Yes. A detestable fellow. A bad one. Ah. I can't stand it. Can't let 'em live." 【Nagoya Dialect】 "I'll say it. I'll say it. Master. That person is terrible. Terrible. Hya~. A detestable fellow. A bad person. Ah. I can't stand it. Can't let 'em live." There are many others too.

It's fascinating how Dazai Osamu's tense writing style transforms with dialect. I feel a sense of intellectual playfulness in how the emotional nuances of language are colored by region. Thank you for this wonderful share, Hou!
