Two People Who Met (In Many Ways)
People are scary. This is about a friend I wrote about here before. We hit it off and talked a lot in college. After reuniting at a class reunion, we started talking on the phone. However, we never actually met. Because my friend is a man... Since we're both adults, we didn't want to be misunderstood. Even though I didn't contact him outside of phone calls, I enjoyed the horror tapes my friend sent once a month. But one day, along with the horror stories, the tape also contained recordings about a woman he met on a trip with a junior, that she was divorced, a new mom, had a son, and that he wanted to be the boy's father figure. I was surprised. Later, I received an email saying he wanted to meet and discuss something. Thinking he had someone he liked, I felt relieved and agreed to meet at Denny's. When I arrived that day, besides my friend, there was a man in a suit, a young boy, and my friend. What's going on? I was surprised, and we were led to a table in the back. The man in the suit seemed to be a regional leader of a certain religious group. My friend and the boy were also there to recruit us. To put it simply, the woman my friend met was apparently a member of this religious group. ↓

I can only imagine how much it hurts to be betrayed by a friend you trusted. Using someone's goodwill for religious recruitment is a truly despicable and cowardly tactic. You must have been so upset to get caught in such a malicious trap, Shamna.

AuthorThe young guy is a junior colleague of my friend from work, apparently a tape junior. He was invited on a trip by my friend. Then, influenced by his friend who joined the faith after being proselytized by a woman, he also joined. Honestly, it was creepy. Three men talking about the teacher's greatness haltingly with sparkling eyes. I managed to ignore them and went home, but then I got another email from my friend. When I asked what happened to the girl, the reply was that she got married. Apparently, he had someone he truly liked. He's saying that since she hasn't joined the faith, she'll eventually go to hell. Mentioning my name, saying 'So please join the faith,' but what can I do? My friend became strange after meeting that girl. I frequently receive threatening emails↓

AuthorI quit my job, moved, cut ties with my parents, rented a room near the organization, and married another woman. (I recruited a woman I met through a dating app and got her to join. Apparently, she also cut ties with her parents.) I got tired of the threatening emails, so I cut ties with my friends and blocked their email addresses. I never thought joining a religion would change someone this much. Two people who met (a friend and a woman met while traveling), a friend and a junior, a friend and a woman from a dating app. Everyone got deeply involved. I wish it had been a normal encounter.
