Wato's Episode (Part 3)
Wato (short for Watson), a cat who was very lonely and my mother had when she was a child. He had... a slightly troublesome habit. It was his 'escape artist' tendency. Perhaps because he was originally a stray cat from Russia... or maybe he remembered the outside, I don't know, but Wato wanted to go out. He learned that he could get outside by ramming into the screen door. Wato apparently used to break the screen door frequently and go for walks outside. According to my mother, he would come back when he was hungry, so there was no need to worry. However, it was problematic to have it broken so many times, so they replaced the screen door with a wire mesh that a cat's ramming wouldn't break. There are still many claw marks left on it. Wato could no longer go outside. He seemed to gaze outside through the wire mesh, looking lonely and empty. Feeling sorry for Wato, they often took him on drives, which they called 'walks'! Good for you, Wato!

Wato's gaze truly has the aura of a seasoned veteran! His toughness from Russia and how he enjoys drives, loved by his family, is utterly adorable. The melancholy seen through the fence is surely part of his happy memories!

So you were originally a stray cat from Russia, and you even went for a stroll in Japan! Mine was also a former stray and tends to escape... It's sad, but considering Japan's housing situation, I really wish they'd stay as house cats~! Yours has cute bicolor markings, but when I think of Russia, I picture Russian Blues, so I guess cats are universal, huh~!

Cats that were originally strays or used to live outside often have a sense of territory and might feel uneasy if they can't go outside. My former stray cat usually roams freely within the rooms (two of them). When he wants to go out, he opens the sliding door to the hallway himself. After his 'escape,' he does a thorough inspection of the area and then returns to his room, satisfied.

Body-slamming the screen door is wild! My cat once jiggled the screen door open and escaped. Luckily, I found it under the car in the yard ð¹ Since then, I've put tension rods on the screen door so it can't be opened...
