Scary, or rather, strange?

This is about when I experienced the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake during my high school years. I had trouble waking up in the morning and always needed my mom to wake me up multiple times to get me up just before 8 AM. But that day was different. I suddenly woke up for no particular reason. The sky was still dimly lit. I wondered why I woke up at this hour? Before a few minutes passed, a small rattling began, and just as I realized it was an earthquake, it started shaking violently with a 'Rumble! 💥'. !? Earthquake! What is this, it's huge! It was such a big earthquake that I couldn't even stand up from my bed. Back then, we didn't have mobile phones. Even when I turned on the TV, the earthquake alert didn't come on immediately. Strangely, none of the hundreds of manga books on my bookshelf fell down. My family's kitchen cabinet had sliding glass doors, so even when it shook, the dishes didn't fly out and break, and we had no damage at all. I went to school as usual. However, the school building had cracks, and it was temporarily closed (^-^; When I returned home, dozens of manga books that I had placed on top of the bookshelf in cardboard boxes because they wouldn't fit inside were scattered around. I don't know when they fell, but if I hadn't gone to school, I might have been crushed and seriously injured.
