You can continue dragging from the same number, like zig-zagging, to reach multiplier blocks. It's difficult to explain verbally, so why not start with diagonals or simpler areas first? I think the sister app definitely went over level 500. I didn't understand it at all at first either, but after trying various things, I found I could do various techniques.
