Game Title: Regarding the progress on the issue of a full multi-GB update download occurring every time the app starts in『Oshiro Project:Re (DMM for Android version)』 (caused by cache deletion). Findings: I was able to resolve an issue that had long persisted with this game version and remained unresolved online. It turned out to be caused by game data loss due to automatic cache deletion by security apps. In my case, the culprit was『Norton 360』, which was deleting the update data (clearing the cache) in the background every time. First, the DMM version of Oshiro Project:Re is designed to store all update data within its cache. This is a major difference from the Google Play version, where update data isn't deleted because it's treated as player data. Many users have suffered from this difference for a long time. (The inability to individually adjust cache deletion settings for each smartphone or tablet is also a contributing factor.) (To be continued)

Author(Continued) Specifically, the cache data area where update data was being placed was being deleted arbitrarily due to some factor, and users were unable to do anything about it. This issue persisted as an unresolved problem for years... Some of the games I own were downloaded from DMM, and before downloading Norton 360, update data was not deleted automatically, and only user data confirmation was required at the start of the game. ...I had long forgotten about this. Ever since I introduced Norton 360 for enhanced security, I've been plagued by the aforementioned problem. Last month, I accidentally launched 'Oshiro Project: Re' on my mobile data instead of Wi-Fi, downloaded the update data, and played. The next day, when I checked my remaining mobile data for the month, I noticed it had been reduced by 3-4GB, prompting me to start an investigation and analysis. I searched online for countermeasures, but the issue remained unresolved, and the available solutions were unclear whether they could be executed depending on the device (like disabling cache deletion)... So, while busy with work for a few days, I contemplated the issue and tried the methods I found online. (The online methods failed, and I ended up consuming another ~4GB...)

Author(Continued) Progress was made today... "Come to think of it, didn't the update data disappear before I installed Norton...?" This question crossed my mind, so I canceled my annual subscription for Norton 360 and immediately deleted the app. As a result, the issue has been resolved. Aside: Back in the day, FGO also used to store update data in its cache, which led to a major uproar when the data disappeared, and the developers had to scramble to fix it. (※I was playing FGO on a different account back then.) I heard there was quite a bit of conflict with users at the time... I wonder how they handle storing update data in the cache these days? Has it improved? If it hasn't improved yet, I recommend suspecting your security app just in case. Similarly, some older social games may still use a method of storing update data in their cache, so if you're reading this, please remember to protect your precious memories and the records of your journey in those games...
