That's all a lie. As a Zepeto veteran of 5 years, I'll share my personal experience. First, to debut virtually, you need to customize your virtual character. This includes makeup, hair, lenses, eyelashes, body type, space, tops, bottoms, hats, accessories, etc. Purchasing all of these basic items requires at least 60-80 gems. This is because makeup costs 5-6 gems, hair 9 gems, lenses 3-5 gems, eyelashes 5-7 gems, body type 14 gems, space 12-15 gems, tops and bottoms 4-7 gems, hats 4-5 gems, and accessories (hands, nail art, effects, other makeup, etc.) under 10 gems. Of course, adults can earn money and buy gems, but for minors, unless their parents are chaebol heirs (?), it's difficult to afford virtual outfits even with allowance. Some people try to beg for items as gifts from others. However, Koreans tend to block, publicly shame, or report you if you beg. Foreigners usually ignore you or won't give items unless you become friends (personal experience). That's why I think the ads are misleading.

It's great that you can customize 2D characters more freely than before, but I'm not sure if it's really necessary if you're already used to the existing 2D character types. Recommended for those who enjoy creating characters by covering those from animations!
