Cat Hero's initial mana is limited to 30, making it difficult to equip many good companions. However, thanks to legendary sub-runes like Mana Improvement (increases mana by 4) or Food Mana Improvement (reduces mana cost of legendary food companions by 2), you can equip more good companions. Increasing mana itself can be done through Golden Research or equipment enhancement.

The core of the Wolf build is the Werewolf's 'Scratch'. 'Scratch' synergizes well with 'Enraged' because it activates more frequently the more your wolf companions attack. 'Angry Wolf', a companion, takes care of the duration and cooldown of 'Enraged', allowing you to use 'Scratch' often. You don't necessarily need to use the 'Scratch' skill itself (because of Werewolf). 'Moon's Fury', 'Howling', and 'Enraged' are essential (according to the author), and 'Moon's Fury' makes you use all other wolf skills once more, showing great performance. 'Enraged' can be improved with runes obtainable early on. 'Howling' is a lifesaver that boosts the damage of wolf-type skills. For wolf build companions, there are about Ugallu, Lux, Lycan, and Werewolf. Werewolf is fixed, Ugallu is for PVP, and Lux is for clearing stages. Lycan is only viable with their Mythic skill, so it's not recommended for beginners.

The game itself is cute, charming, and fun. There's enjoyment in pulling for characters/items, but I don't know about the fun of pushing through stages. One thing to say is, this game is a pay-to-win disaster without spending money. Mythic skills are incredibly hard to get, and getting Mythic runes is practically impossible for free-to-play players. Half of the event rewards are designed for paying players. The gacha rates are also an issue, and even mounts significantly boost attack power, making it very difficult to progress beyond Hero tier without spending money. I recommend playing with these factors in mind.
