Misaki Ichijo - Even If This Love Disappears From the World Tonight
A tender and poignant love story between a girl suffering from 'anterograde amnesia,' where her memories reset every time she sleeps, and an ordinary high school student living a mundane life. "You don't know me, but will you go out with me...?" The girl accepts the boy's reluctant, false confession with a condition: "Don't fall truly in love with me. Can you keep that promise?" Thus, the two, in a conditional relationship, become lovers yet not quite lovers. Can they overcome the cruel reality of 'memories disappearing every day'? What outcome awaits their love at the end? This work, which transforms the familiar theme of anterograde amnesia into a high-quality coming-of-age novel, takes a heart-fluttering youth romance into an unpredictable direction, inevitably leading to tears in the latter half. The story is so engaging that it has been adapted into movies in Japan and Korea. As Korean movies often do, the plot changes to some extent, so even if you've seen the movie, I highly recommend reading the novel.

Samuel Beckett - Waiting for Godot
Vladimir and Estragon (hereinafter referred to as Didi and Gogo) spend their meaningless days waiting for Godot. Will he come today? Should we go home for now? What if Godot comes while we're gone? Then let's wait here a little longer. Godot never comes. The entire time I was reading the book, they were just waiting. It was a thin book, but reading it was a bit arduous. It wasn't because I didn't understand the sentences or because it was overly philosophical. It was simply that the act of waiting was difficult for me. (After all, a book is something you walk through with the narrator.) What is Godot to me? What is Godot to you? What exactly is it that ties our feet? While waiting for Godot, If you're interested in existentialism, I think it's worth a read. Like The Stranger before it, I read both in middle school, but rereading them in high school gives a new perspective.

Proof of the Loach - Choi Jin-young
One of the top 3 most polarizing novels in Korean literature. But I'll make a bold (?) statement: I was on the 'like' side. At first, I was like, 'Huh???? What are you talking about, are you crazy???', but as I read on, I started to understand it more and more. The final scene of the loach was sad... and I liked it... and at the same time, the sentences deeply touched my heart... The reason I liked it is: First off, I'm an otaku. And I think it also has something to do with my favorite ship in my favorite genre being like this. A couple where the girl eats the guy while crying. 'Mmm, delicious~~ But setting that aside, I'm not a big fan of the writing style. The writing feels too fragmented. When I first started, I wondered if it was the author's note or the beginning of the novel... It felt less like a novel and more like a collection of scenes the author wanted to see + sentences they wanted to write? A synopsis? Anyway, that's the feeling I got. The second image is a reply I got from a real-life friend after talking about Proof of the Loach... Do people who like Proof of the Loach get told things like that? Damn~~ lololol

Everyone
You can trust books written by author Kim Ho-yeon.. The representative work is the 'Uncomfortable Convenience Store' series, but other than that series, there's a book about a woman's lover? ex-boyfriend? and current boyfriend. When the girlfriend passes away in a car accident, the ex-boyfriend(?) and current boyfriend go together to scatter her ashes at sea. That book was truly impressive! I read it 2-3 years ago, but I still remember it haha. I'm currently 15 years old, in 5th grade, and I read it in 3rd grade? Even then, the content wasn't that difficult!! Well then, everyone, happy reading 💗

Albert Camus - The Stranger
Novelist, politician, philosopher I read it through the publisher 'Minumsa'. As he is an author I personally really like, it was incredibly fun to read. Actually, I read it in 8th grade, and then again in 11th grade. The overall length was short. It's a novel centered around the protagonist Meursault. I felt very frustrated while reading it, but for some reason, I didn't dislike it. The cold gaze looking at Meursault. The cold demeanor with which he accepts it. Do you absolutely have to cry desperately when your mother passes away? Do you have to show your sadness and appeal? Everyone accepts things differently. Returning to daily life the next day and spending time with his girlfriend. Does his outward appearance mean he's not struggling? Is it okay to arbitrarily define the life of someone who seems completely unfazed? Meursault is not a sociopath. I think he is a man more human than anyone else. I feel like I'm looking at Camus and Meursault together. Perhaps I too am nurturing Meursault within me.

Can I recommend a book here..?
It's a book called [The Last Train Station in the World]! It's a Japanese book! Written by Takeshi Murase Translated by Jiyeon Kim The Last Train Station in the World is a super popular, massive bestseller! It's a heartwarming fantasy novel! After a major accident where the northbound express train on the 'Dohin Railway Kamakura Line' derailed and plunged off a cliff, 68 out of the 127 passengers on board died, and numerous others were severely injured. This novel is a sad story where those who lost loved ones in this accident can meet them again on a ghost train. This train is only visible to those who have unresolved feelings due to the derailment accident. However, breaking the rules means risking your own life. First, you can only board the train at a station where the deceased victim actually boarded. Second, you must never tell the victim that they are about to die. Third, you must get off at another station before the train passes the accident site (Nishi-Yuigahama Station). Fourth, even if you meet a deceased person and revisit the past, reality will not change.

Torrent - Jeong Dae-geon
I think I understand why it's one of the top 3 most polarizing Korean literature works. First off, I'm on the 'dislike' side. No matter how I think about it, Dodam and Haesol need counseling, not love. Guys, please go to a hospital. Dodam, why did you keep thinking so highly of your dad? Honestly, if it were me, I don't think I could ever think fondly of a father who died after having an affair. I mean, sure, up until high school... maybe... it's understandable... but what are you going to do when you've graduated college and are already working and still feel that way? I understand your mom more than your dad. Haesol isn't great either. No, Dodam said she hadn't sorted out her feelings. And it's not even like Haesol's mom is Dodam's dad; she's just the person Dodam's dad had an affair with. Why do you keep talking about her like she's such a good person? She might be a good person to *you*, but still... I don't know, but I feel really sorry for Seonhwa. Where did Seonhwa's 6 years go? Meeting someone for 6 years and having other thoughts? Sure... maybe... but why would you say that out loud? Dodam and Haesol, please never let anyone else have you and just live happily together!!

The Course of Love - Alain de Botton
I have no idea what the protagonist is talking about. I don't know how many times they said to stop thinking while reading, or to go to the hospital... It kind of feels like they just learned the word they're using a short while ago? How many times is the same word repeated in one paragraph... I lost count and gave up. The ending was quite shocking. Is it okay to have an ending like this in a novel about love? Honestly, I'm not even sure if the protagonist is actually in love. It feels like they're in love with 'themselves loving the other person' rather than 'loving the other person'. Too much overthinking... Despite living more emotionally than anyone else, they pretend not to be and act rational, and when they try to explain their emotional actions rationally, the explanation just doesn't sink in. Who philosophizes love...
