Pyramid Game

It's based on a webtoon, and I watched it because a drama adaptation came out and I was curious.. They made the drama really well with great immersion, so I enjoyed watching it. It's about school bullying, so I recommend it if the theme is okay with you!

Not Others

Eun-mi (Jeon Hye-jin) is a physical therapist who raised her daughter alone after giving birth in high school. Her bubbly personality means her daughter often acts as the guardian. Jin-hee (Choi Soo-young) gets demoted to patrol team leader at the Namchon police station in the neighborhood due to an incident caused by her outspoken nature. Then, Jin-hong (Ahn Jae-wook), Eun-mi's past lover and Jin-hee's biological father, appears and disrupts the mother and daughter's daily lives. A subtle chemistry also begins to develop between Jin-hee and the station chief Jae-won (Park Sung-hoon), whom she met at the demoted police station. Usually, single mothers are portrayed with predictable stories of tears, sacrifice, and maternal love, but I liked how this show breaks those stereotypes and views the mother as just a person. Above all, the chemistry between Jeon Hye-jin and Choi Soo-young is truly key. The witty banter and incredible synergy, like watching a real mother-daughter relationship, are amazing. Without forced laughter or tears, their cool yet deeply affectionate moments, where they are each other's only support in crucial times, make them feel more like friends than mother and daughter, creating a delightful and enjoyable show.

Suspicious Partner (2017)

Tired of predictable rom-coms? I recommend Suspicious Partner! It's a drama I enjoyed because the genre leans towards romance-thriller. It's exciting not only because of the romance between the male and female leads, but also due to the mysterious murder case and the plot twists. To briefly summarize the plot: It begins when the female lead, while a judicial trainee, finds her ex-boyfriend's body in his home and becomes the prime suspect for his murder. The prosecutor in charge of the case is the male lead. The female lead insisted she didn't kill her ex-boyfriend, but lacked a solid alibi. The male lead investigates the case, confirms evidence suggesting she's not the killer, and tries to help her. More incidents occur afterward, and I like this drama because it also has elements of a crime investigation show!

Trigger

This is the story of a tenacious investigative journalism crew who, in this flower-like world, shove their cameras in the faces of bad guys to expose their wrongdoings. Instead of punching like in 'The Outlaws,' this work aims to call out bad guys elegantly with cameras. It's about a protagonist full of justice and a bit of craziness who overcomes all the dissuasion and hardships from those around them to somehow punish the bad guys. The difference is that they use the media instead of public authority to carry out the same actions. It's not too serious and has a generally comedic atmosphere. There were some over-the-top directing choices, but overall, the dialogue was witty and the actors' performances were excellent. All the cases were resolved without frustration, which makes it less realistic, but that's what dramas are for, right? From my perspective, it was just pure satisfaction lol At the end, the villain, who was thought to be dead, left a hint that they might still be alive. Is this a preview for Season 2?? It's a total of 12 episodes, so it's easy to watch.

Hyperknife (2025)

I'd like to introduce the Disney+ original drama 'Hyperknife,' released in 2025. It's a medical crime thriller starring actors Park Eun-bin, Sol Kyung-gu, Yoon Chan-young, and Park Byung-eun. The drama centers around Jung Se-ok, once hailed as a genius neurosurgeon. Se-ok possessed exceptional surgical skills but lost her life as a doctor due to a certain incident, leading her to live as a shadow doctor performing illegal surgeries in the shadows. Then, she meets her mentor, Choi Deok-hee, who caused her life to spiral down, reigniting a subtle tension between them. I initially thought it was a simple conflict between mentor and disciple, but the fact that they both hate each other yet acknowledge each other's skills felt quite intriguing. It's a medical drama, but it's not just a hospital story; it blends crime, revenge, and the complex emotions between mentor and disciple, making it a suspenseful watch. If you usually enjoy medical dramas or thrillers, I think it's worth checking out.

The World They Live In (2008)

This is the 2008 KBS 2TV 16-episode drama [The World They Live In], written by Noh Hee-kyung and starring Hyun Bin and Song Hye-kyo, which deals with the lives and love of people in the broadcasting industry against the backdrop of drama production environments. Although viewership ratings were low, it was a work that gained popularity by cultivating its own fanbase at the time of its broadcast, thanks to writer Noh Hee-kyung's unique writing skills. The main story is about drama PDs Joo Joon-young (Song Hye-kyo) and Jung Ji-oh (Hyun Bin), who knew each other from the past. They develop a romantic relationship after Joo Joon-young breaks up with her boyfriend, but they repeatedly break up and reconcile due to different backgrounds, values, and realistic problems, eventually realizing personal growth and the true meaning of love. The performances of the three-dimensional characters, not only the main characters but also the supporting actors such as Uhm Ki-joon, Seo Hyo-rim, Kim Kap-soo, Bae Jong-ok, and Youn Yuh-jung, further enriched the work. Despite low viewership ratings, it was a masterpiece drama that was widely talked about through word-of-mouth, receiving praise as a "good drama" for depicting the daily lives of modern people without excessive stimulation.

Bad and Crazy (2021)

Bad and Crazy, starring Lee Dong-wook, Wi Ha-joon, Han Ji-eun, and Cha Hak-yeon! It's a drama with some dark aspects, but the music... lol, it's so upbeatㅋㅋ It also gives the feeling that the plot progresses quicklyㅋㅋ Maybe because 'Crazy' is in the title, the exciting background music feels like half the showㅋㅋㅋ It's revealed that within detective Ryu Soo-yeol (Lee Dong-wook), who abandoned his conscience and compromised with injustice for success, exists another personality, 'K', a man who cries out for justice. Every time Soo-yeol tries to ignore injustice, K bursts out, implements justice through force, and puts the brakes on Soo-yeol's lifeㅋㅋ Then, he gets entangled with narcotics detective 'Lee Hee-gyeom' (Han Ji-eun), officer 'Oh Kyung-tae' (Cha Hak-yeon), and others, uncovering corruption within the police force and a large criminal organization. A protagonist with a split personalityㅋㅋ How novelㅋㅋ You can watch it on TVINGㅎ

Revenge (2017)

Today, I'd like to introduce the drama 'Revenge' (also known as 'Nothing to Lose'), which I'd recommend to those who enjoy legal dramas. This drama aired in 2017 and features actors like Park Eun-bin, Yeon Woo-jin, Dong Ha, and Na Hae-ryung. This work is a legal drama that depicts the story of Lee Jung-joo, a self-proclaimed 'troublemaker judge' at the court who tries to uncover her brother's secrets, and Sa Ui-hyun, a cold-hearted elite judge who gets entangled with her, as they seek justice together. Initially, the two characters, with their completely opposite personalities and styles, clash over everything. However, as they investigate cases one by one, the process of getting closer to the hidden truth unfolds in an intriguing way. It's not just a legal drama that deals with trials; I found it enjoyable because you can also see the mystery unfolding as Lee Jung-joo tries to reveal her brother's secrets, along with the relationships between the characters. I was particularly impressed by the combination of Lee Jung-joo, who doesn't back down easily for the sake of justice, and Sa Ui-hyun, who appears cold and detached but has his own principles. If you enjoy legal dramas or mystery shows where you uncover the truth by investigating cases, I highly recommend it.

One Dollar Lawyer

It's a drama about lawyer Namkoong-min, who only charges a thousand won for his fees, solving cases in surprising ways. It has many comedic elements, making it a lighthearted watch. Watching Cheonbyeon use his incredibly bizarre ㅋㅋ methods to enact justice makes you wish there were more lawyers like him in the world.

Agency

This is an office drama about an advertising agency starring actress Lee Bo-young. Go A-in is an advertising executive who has lived more fiercely than anyone else. With no connections or family background, her only way to survive was to win purely on skill. She fought fiercely and eventually became the first female executive, but she learns that the position she hard-earned is actually a temporary one, lasting only a year. Go A-in understands the intentions of those who tried to use her and instead of stepping down meekly, she starts to turn the tables. What I liked about watching 'Agency' was that Go A-in isn't portrayed as an unconditionally righteous and kind protagonist. She's ruthless, calculating, and sometimes pushes those around her. It's also pitiful to see Go A-in, who relies on medication, can't trust others, constantly pushes herself, and runs solely for success. Still, seeing her change in the end due to the good people around her, I also think that people helping others is what truly matters. 'Agency' was a drama where actress Lee Bo-young's unique charisma was intense.
