Returning newbie here with a question...
I'm a newbie who quit a few months after launch and just returned. I tried raising a character with a rental deck, but I couldn't defeat Almond Eye at the end... I'm a free-to-play player, so I'm wondering whether to keep trying with the rental deck or try raising one with distributed cards. Could you advise me on which path to take?

Gulp gulp gulp! Oh ho~! Welcome back. As the saying goes, 'A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.' It's wise to get a feel for things with a rental deck and supplement your lacking stats with distributed cards. Hmm!
Almond Eye being the final่ฒๆ็ฎๆจ (training goal) feels like the AoHaru Cup or Grand Live (Gura-Live) scenario! If you're a free-to-play player, your ceiling might be capped with just rental decks, so I highly recommend combining them with usable freebie cards (especially fully limit-broken ones). There are quite a few good freebie cards these days. Congrats on returning, and you can definitely clear it if you slowly build up your roster, so don't stress too much! You got this!

Stat-wise, there shouldn't be an issue. Do you take skills when racing against 'Ai'? 'Ai' is incredibly strong, so even veterans need to take multiple skills and race to pass without using a clock. 'Ai' only appears on turf for mile and middle distances when certain conditions are met, and if you see the phrase '[Promising Uma Musume]' before the final race, 'Ai' will appear. Make sure to take plenty of general and breed-specific skills. Take distance skills as you see fit.

Wow.. you're raising them so well. It might be a bit tough since they're a runner. Was the kid a front-runner? If it's a weak runner, they can use it as a springboard to leap forward. Since there aren't many usable cards, I recommend just taking the rental deck as is. Save up blue tickets to get Kitasan/Fine, then mix them with the distributed ones. Other usable cards include Speed Maruzensky (Runner), Stamina Power Creek (Decent), Power Ruby (Rearguard for short distances), Power Rice (Decent), Intelligence Opera O (Long distance, but you can choose a gold skill). If you're a light spender, I recommend buying the premium pass (40 blue tickets a month. You can fully limit break one card).
