Nether Tragedy

Today I felt like going to the Nether, so I was having a blast farming there. I found what seemed like a few connected, massive Nether fortresses and was happily farming when I started looking for a Bastion Remnant. Then, at the end of some Soul Sand, there was gravel, and that's when I let my guard down. It was the moment I placed a block in front of the gravel to connect a path. Suddenly, the gravel collapsed, pulling me in with it, and I fell straight into lava. I struggled desperately to survive as long as my armor held, but I eventually died. I had a crucial Shulker box full of good items like a full set of enchanted diamond armor, an Efficiency pickaxe, and a Fortune III pickaxe, plus three other Shulker boxes. For a few seconds, I was just thinking 'what is happening?' and teared up a bit. I quickly grabbed only some blocks and an iron pickaxe, tried to remember the coordinates as best as I could, and went back to salvage any items that were still intact. When I managed to retrieve the items, only 50 emeralds from the crucial Shulker box and the tools I was carrying survived. The rest were gone. My items... my level 40... my time... I was so despairing that I had to vent. I seriously almost threw my phone.
