Getting to Know Dogs

1. Gordon Setter (5) Legs • Hind feet: Oval-shaped, with toes held tightly together and arched upwards. Abundant fur grows between the toes. The pads are thick, and the heel area has thick cushioning. Gait/Movement The gait is steady, comfortable, and stable. They walk by drawing ample power from their hind legs. Coat • Fur: Fine, short fur covers the head, front of the legs, and ear tips. On other areas, medium-length fur grows flat against the body, and it should be free of curls or waves. Above the ears, there is long, silky, thin decorative fur. On the back of the legs, fine, long, straight hair grows close to the skin, and the long decorative fur on the abdomen may extend to the chest and neck. It's best to have as few curls or waves as possible. Size and Weight Height • Male: 66cm (26 inches) • Female: 62cm (24.5 inches) Weight • Male: 29.5kg (65 pounds) • Female: 25.5kg (56 pounds)
