Should I start with low-star units for fodder farming?

When I was enhancing cards to +5, I used the batch option and a lot of low-level, low-star units got used. The enhancement rate is also low, and I ran out of cards later. Today, I changed the settings so that low-star cards are used for fodder farming first.
