Gen.G for LCK Newcomers (Part 1)
I started watching the LCK in 2016. Gen.G has a lot of history, but it's a team inherited from the Samsung organization. Samsung White won Worlds in 2014 (featuring Pawn, one of Faker's rivals, and the legendary support Mata). They were later integrated into Samsung Galaxy. After a somewhat disappointing 2015, the 2016 roster was completed with CuVee, Ambition, Crown, Ruler, and CoreJJ through team rebuilding. Despite a mediocre regular season, they narrowly qualified for Worlds through a close match against KT in the qualifiers. This underdog team miraculously reached the finals but was ultimately defeated by Faker's SKT. The 2017 season began, and while they struggled in the regular season again, they miraculously qualified for Worlds by reverse-sweeping Afreeca (lost 2, won 3) in the qualifiers. They continued their miraculous run in Worlds, reaching the finals once more against Faker. However, thanks to the outstanding performances of Ruler and Ambition, they defeated Faker to win the championship. This season was filled with incredible storylines. To be continued...

AuthorAmbition's story is also interesting. Back in his CJ days, Ambition was an incredible mid-laner. However, he coincidentally fell into a slump after giving up the first kill to Faker of SKT. He later switched to jungle and moved to the weaker team, Samsung. He became the leader of a young team that lacked one. The 2016 season was rough, but through a series of miracles, they made it to the Worlds finals. Faker was there, presenting a chance for revenge, but they couldn't overcome him. They started anew in 2017 with the goal of doing better and similarly reached the finals again. Samsung and Ambition, having overcome their mistakes, succeeded in their revenge.

Correcting some misinformation. Gen.G did not inherit Samsung. They simply bought Samsung's seed rights. This is because Samsung at the time had debt, and inheriting it would mean taking on that debt as well, so they went with a re-establishment. That's why the Worlds jersey doesn't have a star. Some people equate Samsung and Gen.G as the same team, but they are strictly different teams. A similar case is in professional baseball with Kiwoom and Hyundai.

And then they started again with the team Gen.G, but 8884844 is facing the tragedy of not making it to the Worlds finals for 8 years. They've been changing super team components for the mid-laner for 8 years, but they've experienced the bitter taste of never reaching the finals, and every year they shout "This year is different," but it's been the same for 7 years, and they're challenging for the 8th year.
