Yes, they are quite different. The previous game had player classes, but they were removed in the sequel. The dice grades are gone too, and instead, there's a Dice Tree. You can unlock desired dice, learn unique effects, and become stronger through the Dice Tree.

If they give out a lot of gems, the fun will follow, haha.
