2) Korea - 2. The Two-Headed Serpent Ghost

During the Joseon Dynasty, in Sogong-dong, Gyeongseong, a man named Shin Mak-jeong bought a house. Inside the house lived a ghost that could speak but whose form was unseen. The ghost served the homeowner like a servant, calling him 'Master.' However, it constantly demanded food, and if not given, it would become enraged and act violently. Furthermore, it followed the owner everywhere. Every night, when the owner and his wife lay down on their bed, the ghost would crouch beneath the bed and laugh. One day, the owner, curious about the ghost's appearance, asked it to draw its own likeness. After a while, a hideous image appeared on the wall: a creature with two heads, four eyes, tall horns, drooping lips, a crooked nose, and a face and eyes that were red. Seeing its terrifying appearance, the owner grew to dislike the ghost. He secretly asked a Taoist priest for a way to kill it, who advised that if the ghost were fed roasted field mice, it would die. Some time later, the owner gave the ghost roasted field mouse meat. Upon receiving and eating it, the ghost wailed, "I am going to die now," then left the house and never returned.
