Listening to this song, I thought it was a really clever piece. Why? Because it's a well-crafted song designed to showcase 'how well this singer can perform.' It's 100% performable live. Exactly like the original recording. Don't you sometimes encounter situations like this? You know the singer is genuinely talented. But to perform it live, they have to pre-record their vocals with the backing track. Because even a great singer can't be in two places at once. Sometimes when performing with a band, they need backup vocalists in the background. But I just want to focus on the main artist. This song is carried entirely by the singer alone, all the way through. What stands out most is that after the second verse, during the repetition of the chorus "It won't be erased," they omitted the line "Don't tell me to smile." Most songs would have the recorded vocals come in with ad-libs like "Wooo-hoo-" during that part. But this song makes a full live performance possible by completely removing that section. I really appreciated this level of immersion.
