Someone in the Pokemon GO community mentioned it a while back. They were wondering why there isn't a feature for users to chat with each other. Honestly, I don't think Pokemon GO will ever get in-game chat before it shuts down, right? Or maybe it shouldn't even have it?

As the person above mentioned, it seems like there will be a lot of profanity, so I don't think in-game chat will be implemented.

Plus, when you're playing Pogo, you'll almost inevitably run into other users for raids or events. Those who want to interact will often approach you then and suggest exchanging contact info or joining an open chat.
