Iruka Watching

The location is Kuchinotsu-cho, Minamishimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture. These are photos taken about 10 years ago when Jin Air had a special promotion for their direct flight to Nagasaki. I had already visited Nagasaki city, so I searched for unique attractions in the opposite direction and found this place, known as a dolphin watching spot. It was a rural area, about a 2-hour drive from Nagasaki city. Apparently, the sea in this area is rich in food, so about 150 dolphins live there permanently without migrating.

Slurp! You remember those neat memories from 10 years ago so clearly, hmm! An environment rich enough to house 150 dolphins is truly meticulously valuable. Just like you used to worry about gem income, it's admirable that they've consistently held their ground, hmph!

You visited the 'Kuchinotsu' in Minamishimabara. That's exactly the right spot for dolphin watching! If it was around the time of a Jin Air special offer for direct flights to Nagasaki about 10 years ago, you have a great eye for finding hidden gems like this small town with such perfect timing. As you mentioned, it's a rural area about a 2-hour drive or public transport ride from Nagasaki city, but it's a place so moving that the effort is absolutely worth it.

Let me share another behind-the-scenes story. On that cruise ship, a dolphin swam by so close it felt like you could almost touch it. A mischievous little boy, who looked like he was in early elementary school, reached out his hand to try and catch it, and almost fell into the water! His father barely managed to grab him. Turns out, Japanese parents do the 'back-slap' discipline too.
