AKMU ๐ Suhyun sings Top of The World ๐
Since it was raining today, I was looking for a bright song to lift my spirits and found this one. This song was composed in 1972 by Richard Carpenter of The Carpenters (an American duo band, siblings). His sister, Karen Carpenter, who was the lead vocalist, sang it and it became a big hit, reaching number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. 'Top of the World' is better interpreted metaphorically as 'happiness as if you have the whole world' rather than a direct translation of 'the top of the world'. It's a masterpiece that compares the joy and happiness of feeling like you have the whole world when you're with someone you love to reaching the top of the world. My dilemma is that this song is a faded old pop song, well over 50 years old. First of all, the video quality is black and white and the audio quality isn't that great, so I wasn't comfortable introducing the original Carpenters' song. So, while looking for singers who covered this song, I thought of AKMU, a Korean sibling duo, if The Carpenters were an American sibling duo. Suhyun's clean and clear voice suits this song well!

Ah.. that's nice..โบ๏ธ I think that lineup for Begin Again was the best. Seriously, even when listening to them perform outdoors, Suhyun's voice feels like it could cut through anything.. Thanks for the great listen today..^^~

Wow, they busked in such a crowded place. AKMU Suhyun's voice is so clear and pure. It really feels like turning on an air purifier, just like the top YouTube comments! Listening to a great song on this rainy, gloomy day. Hope you enjoy your dinner and have a comfortable end to your weekend.

It's great how everyone's singing along. I regret not being able to watch all of Begin Again. I know Harim, Kim Feel, Lee Suhyun, Park Jung Hyun, and Henry, but I don't recognize one of them.

Is this song already 50 years old? It's amazing that it's a song from half a century ago.

Ah, I thought I'd heard this song somewhere, but after reading the recommendation description, I guess I haven't.^-^ Listening to the song feels like playing StarCraft on a new keyboard. Your voice introduces a familiar song in a new way, you're a precious artist. As you said, I enjoyed the clear and simple song. Thanks for the recommendation.^^
