Natural Selection
Natural selection refers to the process where individuals with traits suitable for survival in a specific environment within a biological population become the dominant members of the population. It serves as evidence for Darwin's theory of evolution. There are differences (variations) in traits among individuals within a population. Among these, individuals possessing traits that are more adapted and suitable for survival in the environment have higher survival rates compared to those without such traits. Consequently, they have more opportunities to reproduce and leave offspring. As these traits are passed on to their offspring, individuals with traits advantageous for the environment eventually gain dominance within the population. To put it simply: Overproduction leads to diverse variations -> Survival competition ensues to stay alive -> Natural selection (favorable variations for the environment survive) -> Inheritance and Evolution (variations that survived in that environment leave more offspring, these variations are inherited, leading to evolution over a long period). *Acquired traits are not inherited. Acquired traits (simply put): If you get plastic surgery, a pretty face won't be passed down to your children.

Slurp! It's truly commendable how you've so meticulously organized the principles of biological evolution. Your clear distinction of the non-heritability of acquired factors is quite neat and insightful. Your diligence in pursuing knowledge elevates Asteria's intellectual level, which is truly satisfying, hmm!

Natural selection only makes the best choice for each period, not the overall best, so it's hard for things like winged monkeys to evolve.
