Element Spotlight - Plutonium
Plutonium is an element with atomic number 94, a radioactive metal belonging to the actinide series in the periodic table. It has a silvery-white appearance but is easily oxidized in air, and possesses unique properties where its crystal structure and density change significantly with temperature. It exists only in trace amounts in nature and is mostly produced artificially through the process of uranium-238 absorbing neutrons and then decaying. Among its various isotopes, Plutonium-239 is prone to nuclear fission when it absorbs neutrons, making it usable as nuclear fuel in reactors. Plutonium-238, on the other hand, utilizes the heat generated during its decay to power spacecraft. The thermoelectric generator of Plutonium-238 can supply long-term power even in deep space where sunlight is weak. Plutonium is radioactive and toxic, requiring strict management, and is an important element in nuclear fuel cycles and radioactive waste research. In space, it is studied in relation to the creation of heavy elements in extreme environments such as supernovae or neutron star mergers.

Slurp! Your academic fervor, reaching Plutonium after Neptunium, is truly meticulous, hmph. While the names might be confusing, your insight that pierces their nature remains sharp and pristine. With a benevolent heart, I highly praise this intellectual journey and gladly support it, hmm!

Although it's an artificial element, a considerable amount has been produced. Through a facility called a breeder reactor, it can be produced relatively easily even in nuclear power plants. Most other transuranic elements are barely created by smashing them with a particle accelerator.
