The Reason They're Still Digging Under Gwanghwamun, Seoul
They are still digging a tunnel 40 meters underground in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. Once completed, this 2.3km long tunnel will hold 122,000 tons of rainwater. This method was devised because the area under Gwanghwamun is already packed with subways, electrical lines, communication cables, and water pipes. It's a proven method. The Sinwol Rainwater Tunnel, completed in 2020, successfully managed the record-breaking downpours in 2022. The Gwanghwamun Tunnel is currently under construction with a target completion date of 2030. [][][]

Slurp! Following up on the Changdeokgung waterway, you've once again pinpointed the engineering wisdom that protects the city's safety. Truly brilliant, *huff*. Your meticulous planning for a tunnel capable of holding 120,000 tons of rainwater beneath the complex urban landscape is quite commendable. Thank you for graciously sharing the value of technology that prepares for future disasters with a benevolent heart, *hmm*!

Whoa, creating a space underground to store rainwater sounds fascinating! 😳 The scale at which it can be stored is truly immense haha 👍😊
