My drawings look disconnected
When I draw features like eyes and face shape separately, they turn out okay, right? But as soon as I try to draw them together, the face shape gets distorted and the eyes end up looking uneven, like one is higher than the other. Is there any way to fix this?

I think you just have to draw a lot no matter what... I used to be like that too... Although, I sometimes wonder if it's actually gotten better now...? haha

They say you can only fix that by drawing a lot... I always have that problem too, so I can never draw it right in one go lol. At least with tablet drawings, you can move things around and stuff..

When drawing digitally, using a symmetry tool or constantly flipping the canvas left and right while drawing helps prevent the face shape from becoming lopsided.

I also have a bad habit of drawing the eyes first and then forcing the face shape to fit, so the eyes and face shape don't match at all. That's why I prefer to adjust everything one by one during the rough sketch phase! And drawing really comes down to practice, I've overcome a lot thanks to the power of practice too!

I brought this from someone else's material. Try drawing lines on your favorite character's face. If you look closely, the area where the eyes are is fixed for each art style, and the spacing from the nose and mouth is the same for each character. Practicing by drawing from different angles will naturally help you learn the placement of facial features. It's about training your eyes, not your hands, so connect the spacing with lines and then place your own character's eyes, face lines, nose, and mouth on top of it. Doing this will help you create your own proportions that fit your aesthetic sense. Start practicing with front-facing faces, then side profiles. Once you get used to that, try drawing various angles like up, down, and diagonal on the same character's face.

1. Try following this kind of feeling by drawing lines over the character. 2. Then, place the eyes, nose, and mouth you drew on top of that. 3. A step where you freely adjust the position of the eyes, nose, and mouth. Practicing drawing based on this will be very helpful.

It really is difficult... That's why I just draw it, and if it looks awkward when I flip it horizontally later, I just fix that part. Or, when drawing the rough sketch, you could try drawing two crosshairs to help position the eyes...!! Keep at it!! I think this really just comes down to drawing a lot... Practice might truly be the answer, and personally, I think it's also good to look at and observe well-drawn pictures or photos many times!
