25) China - 2. Taese

It is a Chinese yokai that looks like a red lump of flesh with thousands of eyeballs and speaks human language. It is accidentally discovered while digging the ground for civil engineering work. If Taese appears, it is said that the entire family of the house will die if the work is not stopped immediately and it is reburied. If it has been dug up, it is said that Taese will retreat if it is reburied with buckwheat porridge and soil, and a ritual is held for the Jade Emperor by inviting a monk or a Taoist priest, but if it is too delayed, everyone will die. In one house, laborers discovered Taese while digging. The owner took Taese and asked people about its identity. A high monk who happened to be passing by was greatly surprised and told him to bury it immediately and stop the construction. The owner and the laborers followed the monk's advice, but it was too late, and a year later, all the laborers and the family members died, ending their lineage. There is also a story that a person named Jo Ryang-jeong escaped disaster by whipping Taese hundreds of times. However, after hearing this story, someone else whipped it hundreds of times, and all but one of his 72 family members died.
