When the NPC says they're going to set a trap, does that mean all the conditions to proceed to Chapter 3 have been met?

Unfortunately, I played Hollow Knight for about 3 hours and then dropped it... lol Finding my way around is so tough, I get exhausted going back and forth... Is the map in Silksong also difficult?
