To get good at this game, focus on upgrading your gear to around Gold or Silver level. Once you get Diamonds, upgrade your Diamond equipment and then build structures. By then, it should be around the morning of Day 3. Start with a wall and one turret, and then either strengthen them or build more walls to expand.
