Review of 'Two People Smoking Behind the Supermarket'..

Among the new anime releases for Q3 2026.. the one that garnered the most interest was 'Two People Smoking Behind the Supermarket,' which has a suspicious title from the start. It's an anime about an unknown romance between a company employee in his mid-40s and a supermarket employee, who was in her early 20s, I believe..? It's currently airing new episodes every Friday on Netflix. Sasaki, worn out by his company life, finds healing in the smile of Yamada, a supermarket employee, and watches her from afar... He goes to smoke behind the supermarket and runs into a woman named Tayama... Her attire and way of speaking are the complete opposite of Yamada's... but they are the same person. The romance unfolds when Yamada, wanting to tease Sasaki who always only calculates things for her, plays a prank on him... The anime was so fun that I bought and read the original manga. The initial reaction was, 'Isn't the age gap too big?', but... Recent reactions are like, 'Bring the next volume quickly.. It's already winter!' haha This anime really hit the sweet spot for older guys. You can watch it on Netflix, so I recommend giving it a try..
