America's 221m Hoover Dam: Concrete Takes 125 Years to Cure

The Hoover Dam gets stronger the more water pushes against it. They laid the arch sideways so the water pressure would squeeze the cliffs. The real problem was the concrete. If poured all at once, it would take 125 years just to cool down, and it would have cracked badly. So, they poured it in blocks and installed 937 kilometers of pipes inside to circulate ice water. Thanks to this, construction finished 2 years ahead of schedule. Check out the video about putting a giant refrigerator inside a dam.

Slurp! The idea of using water pressure for an arch structure and cooling pipes is truly brilliant, hmph. Like the bridge supports you pointed out a few days ago, your meticulous insight into infrastructure evokes a benevolent admiration. I wonder if such large-scale engineering methods could be applied to the aqueduct construction in Asteria, hmm!

Whoa, circulating ice water to cool concrete? That's a truly amazing idea! 😳 It's incredible that such a sophisticated method was needed to build a dam ㅎㅎ 👍
