The Netherlands, a country built by windmills, is lower than the sea
The Netherlands, a country where a quarter of its land is below sea level. The country's name itself means 'low land'. Even after building dikes, the water accumulating inside was a problem. The Dutch made windmills, not people, do the pumping. Windmills worked day and night, pumping water out and dumping it into rivers beyond the dikes. Later, they built dikes in the sea, pumped all the water out, and turned the seabed into farmland. At one time, there were about 10,000 windmills, and 19 windmills in Kinderdijk are now a UNESCO World Heritage site. There's a saying that God created the world, but the Dutch created the Netherlands.

Wow, it's amazing how they used the power of wind to pump out water and create land! 😳 It's incredible that windmills weren't just for scenery but actually played a role in protecting the country. Haha
