I'll Protect My Love 3. Michael Jackson - The Girl Is Mine

Just uploading some songs about fighting for love on a whim, by myself. This is the third one. 'The Girl Is Mine', sung by Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. If there are any elementary schoolers out there who don't know these two people, you need to know them. This is current affairs knowledge. You can't not know these names. This song was the first single from the 'Thriller' album. Meaning it's the first single from the best-selling album in history. People say the purpose was less about the song itself and more about using Paul to announce to the white community that he was releasing a new album. Putting everything else aside, the line "I'm a lover, not a fighter" is truly beautiful. This song makes me ponder many things. Paul and Michael were very close friends, but their relationship became strained later when Michael acquired the rights to The Beatles' music. I often think that if they had remained close friends and Paul had become Michael's spiritual mentor, it would have been a great source of comfort for Michael. Well, 'what ifs' about what has already happened are meaningless, of course.
