The Truth About Pinkish Stains
Those pinkish stains that appear on bathroom grout or corners. Have you been worried because they quickly reappear even after using mold removers? Actually, the identity of these stains isn't mold, but a bacterium called 'Serratia marcescens'. This bacterium floats in the air and thrives explosively by feeding on fatty acids from leftover body wash or shampoo and moisture. In other words, as long as soap scum, which serves as its nutrient, remains, it will keep reappearing no matter how much you clean. Therefore, disinfecting with diluted bleach or alcohol is more effective than using regular cleaning agents. Simply rinsing off soap suds completely with cold water after showering and lowering the bathroom temperature can prevent them from forming.
