Black Artists Who Amazed America, The Ink Spots

This group was a Black band that was active from the 1930s to 1952. They were also the first group to perform live on TV, and despite the discrimination of the era, they were loved by both Black and white audiences. They were so popular that after their disbandment, over 100 bands with the same name emerged, to the point where a federal court judge ruled, "At this point, it's practically public domain." A characteristic of their songs is the guitar solo music that plays at the beginning. While the melody sometimes changes, it's almost always present, making it easy to recognize their songs. Today, I'll introduce two songs. "It's All Over But the Crying" A song about the pain after a breakup, characterized by a shift to an upbeat mood in the latter half (though the lyrics remain somber). "I Don't Want to Set the World on Fire" A song about anti-war sentiments and love, featuring an impressive monologue in the middle.
