Investigating why the door wouldn't lock
The rectangular part attached to the door frame (the fixed frame around the door) is called a strike (or strike plate) or catch. In the field, it's also referred to as a 'door frame support' or 'door frame latch plate'. Specific Name Distinction: Strike Plate: This is a metal plate commonly used on regular interior doors and fire doors. It's a rectangular plate with a hole where the metal part of the handle (latch bolt/deadbolt) engages when the door is closed. Door Lock Latch / Latch Housing (for digital door locks): For digital door locks on entry doors, this is a rectangular box-shaped latch component protruding from the door frame. When the door is closed, the deadbolt enters this housing, locking the door. No-Like (Electric Strike): If there's a device embedded in the door frame that opens the door via an electrical signal, such as for apartment common entrances or office doors, it's called a No-Like (EM Lock / Electric Strike).

It's really commendable that you've organized even the minor accessories so clearly. Thanks to this, I've learned something new, hmm!
