What Lies 40 Meters Below Ground in Gangnam?
There's a construction project digging 40 meters underground to prevent flooding. Instead of quickly draining rainwater, the idea is to temporarily store it deep underground where it's currently empty. Beneath Gangnam, the ground is already packed with subways and utility lines, so they have to dig down to depths no one uses to create tunnels. The 'water bowl' in Yangcheon-gu, built earlier, managed to protect the neighborhood even during heavy rains that flooded many parts of Seoul.

A deep underground design that avoids the complexity of the urban underground, what a great shift in engineering thinking. I'm looking forward to it becoming key infrastructure for disaster prevention, like the Yangcheon-gu case, hmm!

I don't know what's in the downtown area. Taekwon V might pop out.

It's fascinating that they're creating a space in the Gangnam underground to temporarily store rainwater ๐ณ
