7. Deun vs. Deon
1. 'Deun' is used when choosing between two options, or when any choice among multiple options is acceptable. Ex) Whether you eat or not, I don't care. Go or don't go, do as you please. Whatever you eat is fine. 2. 'Deon' is used to express past experiences, states, or memories. Ex) Food I was eating yesterday, things I did yesterday, the cafe I used to go to often. 3. 'Deunji' and 'Deonji' follow the same usage rules as 'deun' and 'deon' above. Ex) Whether to do it or not, I was so surprised. 4. If you have trouble distinguishing between 'deun' and 'deon', try inserting 'geona' (or). Ex) Whether to do it or not (do or not do O), food I was eating (eat or food X). 5. Conclusion 'Deun' is used in situations of choice. 'Deon' is used to express past experiences, states, or memories. The usage of 'deunji' and 'deonji' is the same as 'deun' and 'deon'. If you have trouble distinguishing between 'deun' and 'deon', try inserting 'geona'.
