Banshōka
I think Banshōka (晩餐歌) is an absolute must-mention when talking about JPOP. First off, this was created by someone named tuki when they were a student, and I honestly can't find a single flaw in either the lyrics or the melody, which is unbelievable for something made by a student. So, when Mashu's hit song 'bling bang bong' hit #1 on Spotify, Banshōka took the #2 spot right after. It's been covered so many times by idols, VTubers (I really liked the covers by Anbo and Iomong), and many others. Recently, Taeyeon covered it, and while I personally think she matched the melody well, the feeling between Japanese and Korean is quite different, which I found a bit disappointing. I've heard 'Manchan-ga' a lot, but I'd only heard Kangnam's version before, so this is my first time listening to the original. The original has a calm and soft feel to it 🤔
