How a 326-ton stone was moved from Egypt to Rome 2000 years ago
The obelisk in the middle of St. Peter's Square isn't Roman; it was brought all the way from Egypt. How did they load a 326-ton stone onto a ship? The answer is: they didn't lift it at all. They dug a canal under the stone, floated a ship laden with rocks underneath it, and then gradually removed the rocks. As the ship floated up, it lifted the obelisk onto its deck. It was the water, not people, that did the lifting.

What was even more amazing than that was how they transported the Moai statues. Instead of sliding them on logs or anything similar, 18 people used only rope techniques to move a 5-ton statue 100 meters in an hour, as if it were walking.

St. Peter's Square (Rome) Obelisk = Stone Pillar Forest Height 25m. Currently 8. They even dug a canal to bring it since there were no cranes back then... I learned another amazing aspect of Rome. Thanks. It must have felt like moving all of Egypt.

Wow, it's amazing that they used water buoyancy instead of brute force to lift 326 tons! 😳 Ancient people's ideas were truly incredible ㅎㅎ 👍
