Seoul's Transformation into a City That Drinks Rain

Some of the pavement blocks laid on Seoul's sidewalks are designed to absorb rainwater directly. The impermeable land in Seoul, which was 7.8% in 1962, has now expanded to nearly half of the city. Because the ground can't absorb water, rain rushes into the sewer system, while rivers, conversely, dry up completely. However, these permeable blocks get clogged after just a few years and stop absorbing water. So, instead of relying on these blocks, the Seoul Metropolitan Government is lowering the curbs along the roadside flowerbeds. The transition from a city that sheds rain to one that drinks it is quite fascinating.

It's a design that complements the limitations of permeable blocks with LID techniques. The perspective of engineeringly reinterpreting infrastructure efficiency is truly impressive, hmm!

When you become a block pitcher, places that get submerged underground will start appearing one by one. Building waterproofing also needs to be done concurrently. The best solution is to drain surface water through the sewer.

Whoa, just changing the paving blocks changes how rainwater flows 😳 Lowering the flower bed curb seems simpler than I thought and is pretty neat too 😊

But why does it lock????? Seems like there's no point in making it.
